We at JKR are supporting a growing manufacturer and distributor of specialist construction products, with a strong international presence and a focus on innovation.

We are recruiting for an experienced Quality Systems Engineer to build and implement the company's Quality Management System (QMS) from scratch. Reporting to the Head of Quality, you will carry out gap analysis, create clear processes and documentation, and embed an ISO 9001 QMS that meets customer and applicable regulatory requirements.

The Quality Systems Engineer Role

  • Build and implement the company's ISO 9001 QMS from scratch, establishing practical processes that meet customer and regulatory requirements
  • Conduct gap analysis, identify missing processes and controls, and implement action plans to address the findings
  • Create, implement and control process maps, standard operating procedures (SOPs), quality manuals and supporting documentation aligned with applicable construction industry regulatory requirements
  • Lead internal audits, host external certification bodies and prepare the QMS for certification audits
  • Investigate non-conformances using 8D, Fishbone and 5 Whys, managing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and checking their effectiveness
  • Train employees on QMS procedures and compliance requirements, working with process owners to embed consistent ways of working
  • Monitor CAPA closure, recurring non-conformances, layered process audit (LPA) adherence, right-first-time (RFT) performance and non-conformance report (NCR) rates
  • Apply Lean and Six Sigma methods to improve processes, reduce operational waste and prevent defects
  • Work across departments and with internal and external stakeholders to support QMS implementation, while complying with Health, Safety and Environmental policies

Quality Systems Engineer Essential Experience

  • Proven experience of personally building and implementing, or substantially redeveloping, an ISO 9001 QMS
  • Practical experience conducting QMS gap analysis and delivering improvements from the findings
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements, including incorporating applicable statutory and regulatory requirements into a QMS
  • Experience writing and implementing SOPs, process maps, quality manuals and document control procedures
  • Experience leading internal audits and supporting external certification audits
  • Strong knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA)
  • At least 3 years' experience in quality assurance within manufacturing or engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management or a related technical discipline
  • Strong technical writing, communication and root-cause analysis skills, with the ability to influence process owners and work independently

Quality Systems Engineer Desirable Experience

  • Automotive quality systems experience, particularly working with IATF 16949
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 or AS9100, Lean manufacturing, measurement methods and engineering drawings
