Our client is a leading manufacturer of high-performance suspension systems for the automotive and motorcycle industries, supplying motorsport teams, vehicle manufacturers and performance enthusiasts worldwide.
They are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to design and develop precision mechanical products from concept through to production.
The ideal candidate will have strong Solid Works experience, an understanding of CNC manufacturing and a practical approach to solving engineering challenges.
- Roles and Responsibilities
- Create assembly models and fully toleranced manufacturing drawings
- Design precision mechanical components suitable for CNC machining and production
- Apply design-for-manufacture principles to ensure products are practical, efficient and cost-effective to produce
- Work closely with the in-house CNC machining and assembly teams to optimise product designs
- Collaborate with vehicle application engineers to develop new and existing suspension products from concept through to production
- Support prototype development using 3D scanning and 3D printing technologies
- Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials within the company’s MRP system
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation, manufacturing drawings and CAD files
- Investigate technical challenges and develop practical engineering solutions
- Contribute to continuous product improvement and wider engineering development projects
- Ideal Candidate
- At least three years’ experience within a mechanical design engineering role
- A minimum of three years’ experience using Solid Works
- Strong 3D CAD modelling and mechanical design skills
- Experience producing detailed manufacturing drawings incorporating geometric dimensions and tolerances
- Good understanding of CNC machining processes and designing components for manufacture
- Knowledge of engineering materials, surface finishes and manufacturing methods
- Excellent problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
- Able to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing team
- Ideally qualified to HNC, HND or degree level in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience supporting product development and prototype manufacture would be advantageous
- Familiarity with MRP systems and Bills of Materials management would be beneficial
- Experience using 3D scanning and 3D printing technologies is desirable
- An interest in motorsport or high-performance automotive engineering would be advantageous
- Knowledge of suspension systems or shock absorber design would be beneficial but is not essential
- Monday to Friday: 8:00am to 16:30pm
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
