Quality Engineer Job Purpose: The successful candidate will focus on the continuous improvement of systems and processes across the business, driving toward zero-defect levels of quality on assemblies and ensuring products are delivered in full, on time. Quality Engineer Key Responsibilities: Actively seek to optimise assembly and production processes to continuously improve quality and approach zero-defect levels of performance Measure, analyse and report on key quality metrics, including inspection and test yields, customer returns rates and Defects Per Million Opportunities (DPMO), to highlight areas for improvement and improvements achieved Improve manufacturing yields by identifying failure modes and implementing robust corrective and preventive actions with timely closure; agree and monitor yield targets and communicate performance Close out internal and customer issues using QA tools such as 8D and FMEA, and ensure effective Root Cause Analysis Take ownership of Final Inspection team Generate First Article Inspection (AS9102 FAI) reports and support New Product Introduction (NPI) activity Provide guidance and inspection to the shop floor, and coach/mentor production teams to resolve quality-related issues Assist Production Managers and teams to define and implement processes that create defect-free products Produce quality reports for management and customer review, and represent Quality in regular customer and supplier interfaces Stimulate awareness and accountability among employees for improvement programmes raised by QA, Process, customers and suppliers Ensure all policies and procedures are kept up to date, legally compliant and communicated effectively to the business Ensure compliance with all Environmental, Health and Safety policies and 5S principles Attend company meetings and training courses as appropriate Quality Engineer Skills & Knowledge: Excellent problem-solving abilities and effective Root Cause Analysis Attention to detail, with a strong focus on quality and process discipline Confident and effective verbal and written communication, including report writing and influencing skills Awareness of business improvement techniques such as 5 Whys and 7 Wastes Strong IT skills, including Excel and PowerPoint A hands-on approach to manufacturing issues, and the ability to work under pressure and prioritise effectively Quality Engineer Working Hours & Benefits: ~08:30-17:00 Monday-Thursday 08:30-16:00 Fridays ~ Quarterly profit-sharing bonus ~31 days' holiday including Bank Holidays ~ Pension - 3% employer 5% employee ~ Paid professional development ~ Discounts and savings portal ~ Cycle to Work ~ Employee Assistance Programme ~ Life Assurance policy Whether you are looking for permanent or temporary work we pride ourselves in understanding our candidates' requirements to ensure that we place you in your ideal role.
