Socure is building the identity trust infrastructure for the digital economy — verifying 100% of good identities in real time and stopping fraud before it starts. The mission is big, the problems are complex, and the impact is felt by businesses, governments, and millions of people every day. We hire people who want that level of responsibility. People who move fast, think critically, act like owners, and care deeply about solving customer problems with precision. If you want predictability or narrow scope, this won’t be your place. If you want to help build the future of identity with a team that holds a high bar for itself — keep reading.

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Engineering team in London and help build the technology that powers our mission to eliminate identity fraud. This is a high-impact role for an engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, building systems at scale, and influencing technical direction beyond a single team. We’re looking for someone who combines strong hands-on engineering with Staff-level technical leadership.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and build highly scalable, reliable backend services and APIs.
  • Own complex technical problems from architecture through production.
  • Work across Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, and Data Science to deliver impactful solutions.
  • Drive architectural decisions and improve engineering standards and practices.
  • Build secure, observable, and resilient distributed systems.
  • Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across the team.
  • Solve challenging production and performance problems at scale.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong experience building and operating large-scale backend systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Golang preferred; Java or Scala also relevant.
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices, REST APIs, and AWS.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Exposure to high-volume data, streaming, or event-driven systems.
  • Strong understanding of security, privacy, and data protection.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and comfort working through ambiguity.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to influence technical decisions.
  • A track record of mentoring engineers and driving impact across teams.

What Makes This a Staff Role

You won’t just build features. You’ll shape architecture, solve problems that span teams, influence engineering direction, and help other engineers do their best work. If you enjoy combining deep technical problem-solving with broad engineering impact, this is a role where you can make a meaningful difference.
