Socure is looking for a Software Engineer II – Backend to join our global engineering team. You’ll design, build, and operate scalable backend services that power our identity verification and fraud prevention products. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Product, Infrastructure, and Data Science/ML teams and take ownership of software from design through production.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, test, and operate backend services, APIs, and microservices.
  • Develop reliable, secure, and maintainable production software.
  • Work on distributed systems, asynchronous workflows, messaging, and event-driven architectures.
  • Contribute to technical design and make thoughtful engineering trade-offs.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability and observability.
  • Participate in code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and engineering best practices.
  • Collaborate with globally distributed, cross-functional teams to solve customer and business problems.

What We’re Looking For

  • Practical software engineering experience building backend applications or services.
  • Strong programming skills in Go, Java, Python, or a comparable backend language.
  • Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems fundamentals.
  • Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
  • Understanding of asynchronous processing, messaging, retries, fault tolerance, and service-to-service communication.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native technologies such as AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka or equivalent technologies.
  • Understanding of source control, automated testing, CI/CD, and modern software development practices.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems methodically and take ownership of solutions through production.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Additional Information

Permanent right to work in the UK is required; Socure does not provide visa sponsorship for this role. Candidates must be based in London or within a commutable distance, with the ability to attend the office as needed.
