As a Front‑End Engineer within our Engineering org, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining the user‑facing applications and interfaces that power Smarkets' products. You will collaborate closely with engineering managers, technical leadership, product managers, and designers to deliver intuitive, high-performing web and mobile experiences aligned with the Smarkets product roadmap.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement and maintain complex features and interfaces across web and mobile (iOS & Android), built with React, React Native and TypeScript.
- Work closely with Product, Design and other engineering teams to scope and lead business goal‑aligned projects.
- Translate designs and prototypes from Figma into polished, functional and pixel‑perfect interfaces.
- Implement monitoring and error tracking to ensure the stability and performance of our user‑facing applications.
- Help reinforce the standard for code quality, by writing tests and reviewing merge requests.
- Continuously improve engineering processes including CI/CD.
- Be the champion of the stack by demonstrating first‑hand how to implement functionality the right way.
Role Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience as a software engineer, with a strong focus on front‑end development.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React.
- A track record of collaborating closely with Designers and Product Managers.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices, including GitLab and Kubernetes.
- A solid understanding of distributed systems in a modern cloud environment.
- Experience profiling front‑end performance to identify and resolve bottlenecks.
- Familiarity with Figma and Design‑to‑Code workflows.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
- The ability to collaborate effectively across cross‑functional teams.
- Proficiency with AI‑driven development tools to accelerate coding, debugging, and documentation.
Nice to have:
- Hands‑on experience with Next.js and React Native.
- Experience with state management tools such as Redux or React Query.
- Experience in the Sports Betting or Finance industries.
- Experience writing and maintaining end‑to‑end tests (Maestro, Playwright).
