Position Summary
To originate and execute a broad array of transactions, both in the primary and secondary markets across the UK Infrastructure sector and for leading small deal teams through to completion; to lead transaction negotiations with sponsors, external advisors and funding partners and to present credit proposals to underwriting and credit committees.
- Job Responsibilities
- Originate new business through relationships with counterparties in line with wider origination strategy of the AGUK Business.
- Maintain / Seek out new relationships with project sponsors, bankers, advisers and investors.
- Monitor market and proactively identify new opportunities through conferences, networking events and client relationships.
- Decision making responsibilities on whether to pursue a new potential transaction, by understanding and considering guidelines set under our Risk Appetite Statement and Pricing models
- Overall responsibility for progressing a transaction: both internally in terms of overseeing relevant memos, discussion forum and ultimately presentation to AGUK's Credit Committee and externally negotiating transaction with external counterparties.
- Expected to work closely with key internal deal stakeholders, Credit, Legal and Regulatory colleagues to ensure a transaction is progressed in line with Risk Appetite Framework and related guidelines.
- Ensure handover of a transaction to the Surveillance team in accordance with the prescribed procedures.
- Manage junior team day-to-day activities and their personal development plans.
- Candidate Background & Qualifications
- Strong work experience with a track record of closing deals in the UK project finance market and across a broad range of sectors
- Strong client relationships across the UK market covering sponsors, financial advisors and other related stakeholders
- Strong academic credentials
- Excellent credit skills, strong technical and commercial acumen, with a deep understanding of debt structuring
- First-rate communicator, able to negotiate and influence an internal and external audience to market, originate and bring deals to a successful conclusion in a timely manner
- Strong experience of preparing and presenting credit papers to underwriting and credit committees
