Jack Morton is expanding its network of exceptional Technical Leads to help shape the future of experiential technology. This is not a role for a specific project; we are seeking talented individuals who can lead software development teams and deliver outstanding creative technology experiences that connect digital and physical worlds.
The ideal candidate is a handsâon technical leader with a deep understanding of interactive technologies, live environments, and crossâdisciplinary collaboration. You will guide teams in designing and delivering immersive digital experiences, from AR/VR to gestureâbased interfaces and custom hardware integrations. You will collaborate closely with creatives, producers, and designers to bring cuttingâedge experiences to life.
Technical Leadership- Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of innovative software and hardware solutions.
- Provide technical direction, establish best practices, and ensure code quality across all projects.
- Shape the technical roadmap, aligning it with Jack Mortonâs creative and strategic goals.
- Mentor and manage software engineers, fostering a collaborative and highâperforming culture.
- Encourage experimentation and learning while maintaining delivery discipline.
- Conduct reviews, set goals, and promote continuous professional growth.
- Define and enforce development standards, testing frameworks, and deployment best practices.
- Champion continuous improvement, automation, and efficiency across the development lifecycle.
- Oversee live deployments and technical troubleshooting in event environments.
- Act as the senior technical authority onâsite during activations and live experiences.
- Collaborate with production, creative, and operations teams to ensure smooth execution.
- Work with a wide range of technologies, from RESTful APIs and creative code to embedded systems like Arduino and Raspberry Pi.
- Partner with producers and project managers to define scope, milestones, and resources.
- Track technical progress, manage risks, and ensure timely delivery.
- Balance innovation with reliability and scalability.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
- 10+ years in software development, with 3+ years leading or managing technical teams.
- Proven ability to deliver largeâscale, highâquality digital experiences, ideally involving physical or interactive components.
- Strong understanding of QA processes and continuous delivery practices.
- Handsâon experience in live event support, with the ability to troubleshoot under pressure.
- Proficiency in one or more core languages: JavaScript (Node.js/React), C#, Python, or C++.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
- Experience with Unity/Unreal.
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and containerisation tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Understanding of creative coding (TouchDesigner, Unity, Unreal, openFrameworks) and physical computing.
- Excellent communicator who can bridge technical and creative disciplines.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Calm and decisive under pressure, with a solutionsâoriented mindset.
