Letly is a £2M pre‑seed AI‑native operating company rebuilding the home rental lifecycle, from viewings and payments to repairs.

As a Backend Engineer at Letly, you will build the foundational systems powering the entire rental ecosystem. You’ll architect scalable microservices, design high‑throughput APIs, and integrate advanced AI/ML models into production workflows. This role offers the unique challenge of digitizing complex real‑world operations for landlords, tenants, and vendors.

Why this role is remarkable:

  • Build the world's first AI‑native infrastructure for the home, modernizing a fragmented industry currently split across agents, banks, and service providers.
  • Backed by £2M in pre‑seed funding from elite investors who previously built global financial infrastructure handling billions in daily transaction value.
  • High‑agency environment where your code directly manages real‑world assets, financial integrations, and regulatory compliance for thousands of concurrent users.

What You Will Do:

  • Architect and maintain scalable microservices using NestJS and TypeScript to automate the end‑to‑end rental lifecycle and financial rails.
  • Collaborate with AI engineers to integrate LLMs into production workflows, pushing the boundaries of how AI handles real‑world property and money.
  • Own the full engineering cycle by participating in DevOps, infrastructure management on GCP/GKE, and database optimization across MongoDB paradigms.

The ideal candidate:

  • Strong proficiency in backend development (TypeScript/Node.js preferred) with deep experience building microservices and RESTful API architectures.
  • Proven ability to manage complex data structures and event‑driven systems, ideally with familiarity in MongoDB, Kubernetes, and GitOps practices.
  • A first‑principles thinker with an obsession for code quality and the adaptability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑stakes operational environment.
