Company Description: £2M Seed-funded AI-native law firm backed by Breega and backed VC.

Job Description: Join as the first dedicated engineering hire for a venture-backed startup disrupting the £19B UK conveyancing market. You will harden a pre‑launch platform, architect a complex state machine and AI agent pipelines. Working alongside founders with multiple successful exits, you will build the technical foundation for a full‑stack, regulated legal powerhouse.

Location: London, UK.

Why this role is remarkable:

  • Founding engineer impact: Own the entire technical roadmap and architecture for a company where engineering is the core product, not a cost centre.
  • High‑pedigree founding team: Collaborate directly with the founders of one of the UK’s fastest‑growing consumer brands and a technical CEO.
  • Frontier tech stack: Build with advanced AI agent orchestration (38+ specialised agents) to automate 80% of traditional legal workflows in a regulated environment.

What You Will Do:

  • Design and scale the core architecture including the state machine, workflow engine and secure API layer for thousands of concurrent transactions.
  • Build and maintain sophisticated AI agent pipelines for automated document review, correspondence handling and structured data extraction.
  • Lead security and compliance engineering, implementing robust encryption and audit logging necessary for a regulated, AI‑native law firm.

The ideal candidate:

  • 5+ years of professional experience with a strong backend focus in Python, TypeScript and React/Next.js.
  • Proven track record of building secure, scalable systems in regulated or sensitive environments such as fintech, legaltech or healthtech.
  • Hands‑on experience with AI agent orchestration frameworks and the ability to transition from individual contributor to engineering leader as the team grows.
