Indices is a venture-backed infrastructure startup founded by security researchers and high-availability engineers from Meta and Starling Bank. They are building the platform that enables AI agents to use the web reliably and securely via network-level computer use, turning any website into a deterministic, programmable API.

As a Member of Technical Staff at Indices, you will build the core infrastructure enabling AI agents to programmatically navigate the web. You will own features end-to-end, from designing hardened sandboxed runtimes to building developer-facing CLI tools. This role requires high agency to navigate ambiguity and solve challenging systems-level problems.

Location: Remote

Why this role is remarkable:

  • Join an elite technical team including a security researcher with CVEs in WhatsApp and Android, and engineers who built high-availability systems at Starling and Bloomberg.
  • Work on the bleeding edge of AI infrastructure, replacing brittle browser agents with a high-performance, deterministic network-level solution that makes the web programmable.
  • Exercise extreme ownership in a high-agency environment where you design core technology and influence the product roadmap from the earliest stages of the company.

What You Will Do:

  • Design and implement a hardened sandboxed runtime with minimal latency, secure credential injection, and multi-tenant isolation for AI agent execution.
  • Build comprehensive tracing and telemetry across a highly distributed system to ensure reliability and auditability in complex, multi-layered sandboxed environments.
  • Develop user-facing CLI tools and integrations optimized for popular coding agents to ensure a seamless onboarding experience for engineers building on Indices.

The ideal candidate:

  • Demonstrates strong software engineering skills with proficiency in at least one backend language like Rust or Python, and a desire to build high-performance systems.
  • Possesses a high-agency mindset, comfortable navigating technical ambiguity and owning projects from initial architecture through design, implementation, and long-term customer support.
  • Has a background or strong interest in systems programming, security, or browser internals to tackle low-level challenges like reverse engineering and sandboxing.
