Job Description
Join the Trusted Enterprise Platform team to build foundational services including authentication, SSO, and secure release infrastructure. You will act as a force multiplier, creating the architectural backbone that allows product teams to ship with confidence. This role is ideal for a backend‑leaning engineer who prioritizes developer experience, security, and scalability.
Why this role is remarkable
- Work at the UK's first EdTech unicorn, a $1.7bn Series D company backed by tier‑one investors like Lightspeed Venture Partners and General Catalyst.
- Shape the foundational platform that serves 800+ employees and 1,500+ global enterprise partners including Microsoft, the NHS, and John Lewis.
- Inhabit an AI‑first engineering culture where tools like Claude, Cursor, and Gemini are integrated into daily development workflows to accelerate maturity.
What You Will Do
- Design and maintain core platform capabilities including SSO integrations, identity management systems (SAML/OAuth), and universal preference centers.
- Lead the development of safe release infrastructure and manage the technical surface area where regulatory obligations like GDPR become working code.
- Mentor junior engineers through thoughtful code reviews and high‑quality documentation while driving architectural decisions that reduce organizational friction.
The Ideal Candidate
- Possesses 5+ years of backend‑heavy engineering experience with a strong command of TypeScript (production Elixir experience is a significant bonus).
- Demonstrates deep expertise in cloud‑native infrastructure using AWS, Docker, and Terraform, alongside a history of building shared services at scale.
- Prioritizes developer ergonomics and "platform as a product" thinking, enjoying the challenge of providing leverage to multiple product teams simultaneously.
