AlbionVC-backed fintech scale-up building the UK's first real-time credit bureau.

As the most senior individual contributor, you will architect and build the foundational API infrastructure for the UK's first real-time credit bureau. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will ship high-performance Go microservices on AWS, setting the technical standards for a team modernizing credit data for regulated lenders across the country.

Location: London, UK

Why this role is remarkable:

  • Work at the ground floor of a seed-stage scale-up that raised £4m from AlbionVC to solve a decades-old problem in financial infrastructure.
  • Take genuine ownership of the technical direction with zero layers between you and the CTO, making critical architectural decisions without committee gatekeeping.
  • Impact millions of consumers by enabling faster, more accurate lending decisions through sub‑second latency API services and modern data signals.

What You Will Do:

  • Design and lead the architecture of high-performance Go microservices on AWS using Fargate, Lambda, Aurora Postgres, and DynamoDB.
  • Mentor mid-level engineers through high-quality code reviews, pair programming, and coaching to elevate the team's overall engineering craft.
  • Drive the evolution of the B2B API surface and data layer, balancing simple designs with the scalability required for a regulated financial environment.

The ideal candidate:

  • Has 5+ years of commercial experience with a deep mastery of Go and a track record of operating B2B API services in production.
  • Demonstrates expertise scaling AWS cloud-native applications and modern CI/CD practices within fintech or other highly regulated industries.
  • Combines sound architectural judgment with the deliberate use of AI tools like Claude to accelerate delivery without compromising on accountability or quality.
