Samudra Oceans Limited is a London-based ocean-tech company that has raised ~£950K to build the NIRA system—a network of smart buoys and subsea sensors for ocean infrastructure. We are developing proprietary hardware to capture critical water-quality data, enabling sustainable ocean health and blue‑carbon capture at scale for global heads of state.
Job Description
You will own the entire hardware lifecycle, from architecture and prototyping to manufacturing in Shenzhen. This hands‑on leadership role involves building the initial product and hiring your future team. Working alongside world‑class MIT and Oxford faculty, you’ll deploy ocean infrastructure in remote locations and present at international delegations, turning proven product‑market fit into global scale.

What You Will Do
- Lead the architecture, prototyping, and design for manufacture of the NIRA system, including smart buoys and subsea sondes.
- Manage production and build deep relationships with manufacturing partners in Shenzhen through regular on‑site visits and quality control.
- Conduct sea trials in extreme locations, from remote islands to Mediterranean villages, while representing the company at major global climate summits like COP.
The ideal candidate
- Proven expertise in marine, maritime, or nautical hardware design is an absolute requirement for this role.
- Extensive experience taking complex physical products from early‑stage prototypes through to full‑scale manufacturing and production cycles.
- A hands‑on leader comfortable with high travel (20%) and the founding nature of building both the product and the team simultaneously.
