Arva AI is a YC S24‑backed startup that raised a $3M seed round led by Gradient Ventures to automate financial crime compliance using AI agents.
As an AI Research Engineer at Arva AI, you will develop and refine the core models powering automated AML and KYC workflows. You will lead applied ML research, fine‑tuning LLMs and vision models to automate 80% of manual human review. Your work directly scales compliance operations for high‑growth global fintechs.
Why this role is remarkable:
- Join a YC S24 startup backed by Google’s Gradient Ventures that is fundamentally transforming how financial institutions fight crime through agentic AI.
- Work directly with CEO Rhim Shah, formerly the financial crime product lead at Revolut, to solve deep operational bottlenecks in the global banking sector.
- Apply cutting‑edge research to a production environment already processing over 100,000 monthly compliance alerts for US and Canadian fintech partners.
What You Will Do:
- Design and implement rigorous evaluation frameworks, benchmarks, and backtests to quantify model performance and prevent regressions in production compliance workflows.
- Fine‑tune large language and vision models for specialized tasks including document fraud detection, web‑scale due diligence, and automated report generation.
- Build human‑in‑the‑loop continuous improvement pipelines that leverage analyst feedback to curate datasets and iteratively optimise model accuracy and reliability.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Has at least 3 years of experience in AI research or engineering with a proven track record of building and deploying agentic systems.
- Possesses deep technical expertise in prompt engineering, model fine‑tuning, and working with both LLMs and computer vision models in production.
- Maintains a strong product mindset and the ability to work across the stack, with TypeScript experience being a significant advantage for integration.
