Job Title
Infrastructure Engineer
Salary
Not Disclosed + Equity
Company Description
Alpha Machines is a pre-seed deeptech company founded by repeat unicorn founders, including the co-founder of the $1B+ company Beamery. They are re-industrialising Europe by designing and manufacturing power electronics for aerospace, defence, and robotics, powered by AlphaOS, their proprietary AI platform that bridges the gap between cloud infrastructure and the factory floor.
Job Description
As a Founding Infrastructure Engineer at Alpha Machines, you will architect the foundational layer of AlphaOS. You’ll design secure, sovereign infrastructure spanning hyperscaler clouds and bare-metal factory edges. This high-impact role involves building real-time data pipelines for industrial sensors and establishing SRE practices for critical national infrastructure within a vertically integrated environment.
Location
London/Reading, UK
Why this role is remarkable
- Work directly with repeat unicorn founders to build the worlds most advanced factories and re-industrialise European manufacturing.
- Own the complete architectural direction of a platform that operates at the intersection of hyperscaler cloud and physical hardware.
- Shape critical national infrastructure for aerospace and defence sectors where reliability and security have real-world consequences beyond a screen.
What You Will Do
- Architect the end-to-end infrastructure for AlphaOS, orchestrating workloads across cloud providers and bare-metal systems at the factory edge.
- Design and manage production-grade Kubernetes clusters that interface directly with manufacturing equipment and high-rate industrial sensor telemetry.
- Establish zero-trust security and sovereignty frameworks suitable for safety-critical environments, including identity management and secure supply-chain pipelines.
The ideal candidate
- Deep expertise in production Kubernetes, specifically managing clusters on bare metal or edge environments rather than just managed cloud services.
- Proven experience deploying infrastructure within high-assurance or safety-critical sectors such as defence, aerospace, energy, or regulated finance.
- Strong background in Infrastructure-as-Code and networking, with the ability to navigate multi-cloud trade-offs and communicate complex architectural decisions.
