Job Description
As the first engineering hire at Penelope Health Inc., you will build the core engine that converts complex payer policies into deterministic computable contracts. You will architect high-throughput ingestion systems and low-latency APIs, bridging the gap between LLM extraction and formal logic to eliminate the need for traditional healthcare revenue cycle management.

What You Will Do
- Design and scale an ingestion engine tracking coverage policies across 3,000+ payers using a sophisticated blend of web scraping and LLM-powered extraction.
- Build the representation layer that converts medical necessity criteria into computable contracts using formal logic, CQL, and deterministic evaluation frameworks.
- Architect and own production-grade API and MCP endpoints, ensuring high accuracy and low latency for AI agents querying coverage rules at scale.
The ideal candidate
- Has 3-4+ years of backend experience with Python and deep expertise in building large-scale web scraping systems and high-throughput data ingestion pipelines.
- Demonstrates a high level of proficiency in LLM-powered structured extraction, including rigorous testing with Pydantic AI and LLM evaluation frameworks.
- Is an exceptional builder who thrives in a 5-day in-office environment in London, prioritizing engineering fundamentals, shipping velocity, and high-quality system architecture.
