Join a high-growth fintech as an early hire shaping the future of SME lending. You will own end-to-end credit evaluations while building the workflows and risk frameworks necessary to scale. Working directly with the Head of Credit, you’ll help bridge the gap between traditional underwriting and automated, data-driven decisioning.

Location: London, UK

Why this role is remarkable:

  • Significant financial backing with a recently closed £4M equity and £45M debt Series A round to fuel rapid scaling.
  • Opportunity to work directly under the Head of Credit (ex-iwoca) in a lean, high-performing team where your ideas are implemented.
  • Career-defining "builder" role where you shape the credit function and internal tools from the ground up rather than being a cog in a machine.

What You Will Do:

  • Own the end-to-end credit evaluation process for SME applicants, performing deep-dive financial analysis and delivering fast, accurate lending decisions.
  • Identify bottlenecks in current workflows and implement process improvements to increase speed-to-decision without compromising risk profiles.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales and Product teams to automate manual checks and enhance proprietary risk models and decisioning engines.

The ideal candidate:

  • 2–4 years of hands-on SME underwriting experience specifically within a UK fintech or modern alternative lending environment.
  • High-output mindset with the ability to analyze P&L statements, balance sheets, and bank transactions at a high volume.
  • Self-starter "builder" DNA with a desire to define new playbooks; familiarity with SQL or Python for data analysis is a strong plus.
