Backend Engineer at Volumetree

As one of Volumetree's first London‑based Backend Engineers, you will design and scale Python (FastAPI) services that power AI‑driven products. You will own the entire lifecycle of production services, from schema design to AWS deployment. Responsibilities:

• Architect, build, and maintain high‑performance backend services using Python and FastAPI to support diverse AI‑driven product requirements and features.
• Design and optimize Postgres data layers and implement Redis for efficient caching and message queuing within a high‑traffic production environment.
• Manage the full deployment lifecycle on AWS, utilizing Docker and Kubernetes to ensure robust monitoring, scalability, and reliability for all services.

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of professional experience building and scaling production‑grade APIs using Python frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
• Deep expertise in SQL, including complex schema design, performance optimization, and managing data integrity for large‑scale production applications.
• Proven track record of end‑to‑end service ownership, from initial technical specification through to deployment, monitoring, and maintaining production reliability.
