Company Description: Rivan Industries – Decarbonising heavy industry through synthetic fuels
Job Description: You will own the end-to-end design and manufacture of a critical Rivan sub-system, such as a reactor or electrolyser. This role involves rethinking conventional high-cost hardware from first principles to enable mass manufacturing. You'll drive everything from initial concept and CAD modeling to hands-on workshop fabrication, testing, and vendor management.
Location: London, UK
Why this role is remarkable: Your job is the full ownership of a major hardware module (Reactor, Electrolyser, or DAC) with the freedom to challenge every design assumption and manufacturing step. You will join an elite seed‑stage team of ~20 engineers from Imperial, Cambridge, and high‑performance backgrounds like rocketry and motorsports. Exceptional relocation and local living support, including an extra £6,000 per year specifically to help you live close to the Bermondsey HQ.
What you will do:
- Lead concept generation, architecting, and technical requirements capture for next‑generation synthetic fuel plant modules using SolidWorks.
- Design and commission bespoke test‑rigs to rapidly validate underlying thermofluid hypotheses and iterate on hardware performance.
- Manage the entire production lifecycle, from generating fabrication drawings to hands‑on assembly and integration within the onsite workshop.
The ideal candidate:
- You have 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering with a proven track record of designing and building complex systems.
- You possess advanced competency in first‑principles engineering, including thermofluids (heat/mass).
