LOCATION: JACE Private Hospital Day Procedure Unit, GREYSTEEL

HOURS: 30 37.5hrs per week

SALARY: £32,000 - £38,000 depending on experience

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

  • Registered Nurse (Adult) with active NMC PIN and no restrictions.
  • 2+ years post-registration experience in theatres, day surgery, endoscopy, or acute surgical environment.
  • Demonstrated competence in scrub and/or circulating (runner) duties for a range of procedures.
  • Ability to check, prepare, and safely operate theatre equipment, including diathermy, suction, monitoring equipment, and warming devices.
  • Strong understanding of infection prevention and control, aseptic technique, and sterile field maintenance.
  • Ability to complete pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative documentation accurately.
  • Experience in safe handling of specimens, including labelling, documentation, and chain of custody.
  • Ability to participate in WHO Surgical Safety Checklist and other safety protocols.
  • Knowledge of medication management, including controlled drugs, local anaesthetic, and emergency drugs (within scope).
  • Strong communication skills with patients, surgeons, anaesthetists, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to recognise and escalate deteriorating patients using NEWS2 or equivalent.
  • Up to date mandatory training: BLS/ILS, manual handling, safeguarding, IPC.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow SOPs, clinical guidelines, and governance processes.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA

  • Experience in a private hospital or day-procedure setting.
  • Competence in multiple specialities (e.g., orthopaedics, plastics, general surgery, gynaecology).
  • Experience assisting with local anaesthetic lists and minor ops.
  • Training in IV therapy, cannulation, or venepuncture.
  • Experience with electronic theatre management systems.
  • Evidence of post-registration CPD relevant to theatres.
  • Mentor/Supervisor training or willingness to undertake.
  • Experience supporting stock control and equipment audits.
