Essential Criteria
- Minimum 1 year experience working as a Healthcare Assistant in a theatre, procedure room, endoscopy, or acute clinical environment.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare theatres/procedure rooms, including setting up trolleys, equipment, and sterile consumables.
- Proven competence in checking, cleaning, and maintaining clinical equipment, including daily, weekly, and pre-procedure safety checks.
- Strong understanding of infection prevention and control, including aseptic technique, decontamination processes, and waste segregation.
- Ability to monitor stock levels, rotate stock, check expiry dates, and escalate shortages.
- Experience using stock management systems or manual stock logs.
- Ability to follow SOPs, checklists, and safety protocols consistently.
- Good communication skills with the ability to support the theatre team and interact professionally with patients.
- Physically able to assist with patient positioning, transfers, and manual handling.
- Up-to-date mandatory training: BLS, manual handling, infection control, safeguarding.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in a private hospital or day-procedure setting.
- Knowledge of theatre equipment such as diathermy, suction, patient warming devices, and monitoring equipment.
- Experience assisting with specimen handling and labelling.
- Training in theatre runner duties, including supporting scrub staff and maintaining sterile fields.
- Experience with ordering systems (e.g., PECOS, Omnicell, or similar).
- NVQ Level 3 in Health.
