We are seeking a highly motivated and autonomous Quality Manager in Surrey. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take full ownership of the Quality function. As a one-person department, this role offers a unique blend of strategic leadership and hands-on operational management within a highly regulated global industry. Someone who is interested in a management role, regardless of whether you have held the experience before, this would be a great career opportunity.
Base Salary: Β£53,000 β Β£57,500 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Office Location: Old Woking, Surrey, UK
Hybrid Working: minimum of 3 days in the office per week
Responsibilities:
- QMS Ownership: Maintain and implement all processes for the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
- Hands-on Management: As the sole member of the department, you will manage everything from high-level KPI reporting to top management to the essential administrative requirements of the QMS.
- Auditing: Plan and conduct independent internal and external quality audits, including on-site vendor assessments in the UK and internationally.
- Business trips: 1-2 times/year to an Asian country.
- Compliance: Act as the Management Representative for ISO 9001 and industry-specific certifications (e.g., ATEX).
- Supplier Quality: Manage NCMR processes and coordinate continuous improvement with global suppliers.
- Analysis: Lead failure analysis on product returns and customer complaints using data from the Engineering team.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Experience in running an ISO 9001 and using quality management data system
- Experience in internal/external audit support
- At least 3 years of quality management with electrical or manufacturing/components products
- Able to commute to the office at Old Woking for 3 days and by car
- Able to travel to an Asian country 1-2 times per year
Other Attributes:
- A self-proficient, "hands-on" professional with a strong work ethic and exceptional organisational skills.
- Communication: Fluent English is required. Japanese language skills are a distinct advantage.
- Technical Skills: Adept in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word). Experience with Access, Visio, or CAD is an added advantage.
- Autonomy: Comfortable working unassisted and making key decisions to drive quality awareness throughout the organisation.
