Logistics Shipping Executive, UK & International — JAC Recruitment
Salary: GBP 38,000 – GBP 45,000 per annum
A global beverage distribution company is seeking an experienced Logistics Shipping Executive to help drive their growing business forward.
Responsibilities
- You will be working in our logistics and operations department, a core function of the business.
- Manage a range of customers or geographic zones and report day-to-day matters to the Senior Shipping Manager.
- Handle shipping files covering UK, EU, and international shipping.
- Process purchase orders (POs) and sales orders (SOs) by agreed times; flag issues in advance if problems arise.
- Enter orders into the ERP system with high accuracy and timeliness according to the order receipt profile (aim for 100% accuracy).
- Raise shipping documents as set out in the SO for all relevant files.
- Track open and pending orders (e.g., by trucks and deep sea) from start to finish with a focus on customers and minimizing delays, demurrage, and customs delays.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, hauliers, and shipping agents; obtain freight rates as requested and seek best rates.
- Liaise with freight forwarders to correct shipping documents (COO, BOL, etc.).
- Coordinate all loadings with suppliers or warehoused goods; ensure smooth customs clearance and on-time, trouble-free delivery to customers.
- Maintain stock sheets and inventory control in warehouses; report on stock on hand (ROP) as needed and instructed by the Senior Shipping Manager.
- Issue export/import documentation accurately according to destination country regulatory requirements and customer instructions.
- Collaborate with Sales Managers and inform them of problems, delays, or issues.
- Complete any supplier–customer SAQ or RFQ as requested by Sales Managers or the Senior Shipping Manager.
- Be able to step in and cover colleagues\’ files during holidays or sickness, or as requested by the Senior Shipping Manager.
- Support the Senior Shipping Manager on shipping matters (e.g., freight rates, audits, compliance) as directed.
- Present progress on your files at monthly Ops Meetings and keep the team updated.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Ideally a university-level degree; preferably in Supply Chain, Logistics, or International Trade.
- Clear written and spoken English; able to communicate fluently.
- Based in the UK with at least 6 years’ residence in the country.
- Full residency or permit to stay in the UK.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in logistics/shipping, including import/export.
- Experience with bulk liquids (e.g., chemicals, food stuffs, Ethanol) is preferred.
- Experience across shipping formats: Tank trucks, ISO containers, drums, IBCs.
- Understanding of dangerous goods (DG) handling and compliance.
- Experience in importing/exporting goods to UK/EU and internationally.
- Knowledge of international shipping terms and procedures; ability to prepare shipping and loading instructions.
- Minimum 4 years in a shipping/logistics context, with at least 2 years with a single employer.

- Confident communication that builds trust with colleagues and customers.
- Initiative, a can-do attitude, and composure under pressure.
- Ability to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously.

- Working knowledge of UK bonded warehouse processes and HMRC excise goods compliance.
- Experience in the spirit/alcohol sector is a benefit but not essential.
- Professional attitude when dealing with customers and a passion for customer service.
- Ability to work well independently and within small teams.
