Work Hours: 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM (1-hour lunch break, 7 hours total work)

Salary: 17.56 GBP/Hour

Job Description: The London office's Invest & Innovation Department is responsible for three areas: supporting local companies' expansion into Japan, promoting open innovation between local startups and Japanese companies, and supporting Japanese startups' expansion into Japan. This role will support other offices in the EMEA region as a regional coordinating centre, focusing on the London office's jurisdiction, with the aim of promoting corporate collaboration and innovation between Japan and Europe, ultimately encouraging local companies to invest in Japan.

You will perform the following tasks:

  • Government: Identify local startups and other companies with outstanding technologies, primarily in the life sciences field, with the aim of fostering collaboration between these companies and Japanese companies. Additionally, identify those interested in investing in Japan and connect them to the investment support. Build networks with universities, research institutes, and support organizations.
  • Assist in the planning, public relations, and management of events such as seminars, pitch events, workshops, and symposiums, as well as follow-up with companies.
  • Provide consultations and business matching for companies interested in investing in Japan. Conduct research and provide information on markets and regulations, respond to inquiries, and provide regular follow-up.
  • Register client information and collaboration status in the client management system, and submit and approve output and outcomes that are counted as achievements.
  • Support the formation of teams across Europe to promote collaborative projects and investment in Japan in the EMEA region.
  • Perform tasks necessary for the operation of the Investment & Innovation Department or London office, as directed by the supervisor.

Goals:

  • Number of new target projects to register: 2 within the contract period
  • Number of target companies to support: 7 within the contract period

Recruitment Requirements:

  • Ability to work without a visa
  • Ability to work 5 days a week
  • Native speaker of English or Japanese, able to communicate in both languages, and able to write business-appropriate documents.
  • A thorough understanding of social, cultural, and business practices in the UK.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Salesforce.
  • Physically and mentally healthy and able to commute to work.
  • Able to work responsibly and collaboratively between UK and Japanese companies.
  • Experience working at a large life sciences company or at a startup or tech company.
