International Food Importer/Wholesaler is seeking a Food Buyer Temp to Perm Up to 30K North Greenwich, onsite.
Key Tasks/ Responsibilities:
- To liaise with Sales Departments to obtain sales forecasts and customer feedback, in order to manage demand, plan and place the orders to avoid any shortage and overstock.
- To monitor stock levels and sales in order to ensure products are ordered in good time and at the appropriate quantities to avoid shortages and overstock.
- To liaise with manufacturers/suppliers and check the shipping/delivery schedule of incoming containers/deliveries.
- To ensure we are always getting the best prices and terms from suppliers through pro-active negotiation with suppliers.
- To monitor the market and look for new products and opportunities for the business, liaising with sales teams to potentially launch new products.
- To manage and develop supplier relationships, ensuring that all suppliers are developed to achieve targeted levels of business.
- To liaise closely with the Technical Department to ensure that all new products, ingredients and manufacturers conform to current legal requirements and food safety standards.
- To liaise with suppliers to collect accurate and up to date item data for storing in our SAP ERP system.
- To ensure that all importing documents and certificates comply with relevant current legislation when appropriate.
- To resolve any problems with suppliers, the Technical team (quality issue), and warehouse (delivery issue), and to support the import arrangement team if there is any issue for suppliers you are responsible for.
- To review regularly the items you are responsible for to identify any issues.
Candidate Requirement:
- Bachelor degree is desirable.
- Fluent computer skills including confidence in Excel with SAP experience an advantage.
- Native or fluent in English. Fluent in Cantonese, Japanese, Mandarin or Vietnamese is desirable.
- Experience in Purchasing or in Food business is desirable.
- Work experience in Importing & Exporting is an advantage.
