Our client is an accounting firm looking for an accountant with GP practice accounting experience. Their main office is in Reading but they have 15 locations around the UK in which candidates can work from an office location of their choice. We are seeking an experienced Accounts & Tax Manager with a strong background in supporting GP practices.
This role involves managing and reviewing GP accounts, preparing and submitting superannuation certificates, handling tax compliance, advising partners on drawings and withdrawals, and completing annual submissions through PCSE. The position requires excellent technical accounting skills combined with confident client advisory capability.
A key part of the role includes working with the NHS Pension Scheme—obtaining AAPSS statements, calculating Annual Allowance positions, and completing all related RPPS reporting. You will also prepare accurate tax returns, maintain high-quality working papers, resolve tax issues, and ensure compliance with UK tax regulations.
Strong communication skills are essential, as you will manage client relationships, collaborate with UK and offshore teams, and support colleagues with tax processes. The ideal candidate is organised, proactive, and committed to continuous development.
