We are seeking a Finance Liaison - Accounting & Internal Control based in Bristol for a company engaged in the automotive-related business. This position will be responsible for a wide range of tasks including monthly, quarterly, and annual closing, consolidated financial statements, internal controls, and audit responses. As a bridge between the Japanese headquarters and the UK office, this role contributes to improving the accuracy of financial reporting, strengthening governance, and enhancing business processes.
Job Responsibilities:
- Financial Closing and Management:
- Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Review and analysis of financial statements and trial balances
- Review of various account items
- Management of closing schedules and coordination with relevant departments
- Consolidated Financial Statements for Headquarters:
- Reorganisation of closing data based on Japanese standards
- Preparation of consolidated reporting materials
- Data registration in the consolidated accounting system (STRAVIS)
- Collaboration with the headquarters accounting department and handling various inquiries
- Internal Controls and Governance Enhancement:
- Operation of internal controls based on group policies
- Review and improvement proposals for business flows
- Development of internal regulations and approval processes
- Support for J-SOX related tasks
- Audit Responses:
- Communication and coordination with local auditing firms
- Information sharing with the Japanese audit team
- Preparation and explanation of audit materials
- Organising accounting issues and addressing challenges
- Management Support:
- Provision of various information to local management
- Preparation of reports for the Japanese headquarters
- Preparation of budget vs actual management and management analysis materials
- Participation in projects related to management issues
Requirements:
- Practical experience in accounting (3 years or more)
- Experience in monthly closing operations
- Business communication skills in English
- Data aggregation and analysis skills using Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge and practical experience of UK GAAP or IFRS
- Experience in consolidated financial statements under Japanese standards
- Experience using consolidated accounting systems such as STRAVIS
- Experience negotiating with auditing firms or tax advisors
- Experience in operating internal controls including J-SOX
- UK accounting qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CA
- Japanese Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification
- US CPA qualification
- Experience working at Big4 auditing firms or accounting offices
