We're on the lookout for a Treasury Operations Analyst to join us for a 12 Month Maternity Cover. Octopus Energy is building its treasury function from scratch. This is a ground-floor opportunity to help stand up core treasury operations for one of Europe's fastest-growing energy companies - not inheriting legacy processes, but designing and owning them.
You'll be the operational backbone of a small, new team: running daily cash processes, managing banking platforms, executing payments and FX, and keeping controls tight as the function scales. If you want early ownership and exposure to the full breadth of treasury in a business raising billions in capital, this is it.
What you'll do
- Lead day-to-day treasury operations: intercompany payments, money market fund transactions, and FX execution
- Lead KYC remediation and bank account opening/closing projects across the group's banking relationships
- Own and administer online banking platforms - user access, payment templates, security controls
- Execute and monitor daily cash positioning across multiple accounts and currencies
- Process wire transfers and manage payment runs, ensuring accuracy and appropriate approvals
- Reconcile treasury transactions (cash, FX, investments) and investigate breaks
- Assist with payment operations across the group as volumes scale
- Prepare treasury reports and dashboards for the Head of Treasury and wider finance leadership
- Maintain compliance with internal controls, banking mandates, and regulatory requirements
- Support the team on ad hoc projects - debt facility administration, bank relationship management, process buildout
What you'll need
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in treasury operations, cash management, or a closely related finance role (e.g. payments, banking operations)
- Strong Excel skills - comfortable building and maintaining cash trackers, reconciliations, and reporting templates
- Meticulous attention to detail and a zero-tolerance approach to errors in payment processing
- Comfortable working with banking portals and payment systems
- Degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related discipline
Desirable but not essential
- Familiarity with FX spot/forward execution and money market fund operations
- Experience with KYC/AML processes from the corporate (not banking) side
- Working towards or interest in CTP, ACT Certificate in Treasury, or equivalent
- Experience in a high-growth or scale-up environment where processes aren't yet fully defined
