Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Wellsite Performance Engineer to support offshore abandonment operations on a rotational basis. The position involves working across both offshore and onshore environments, providing operational, engineering, and performance support to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective well operations.
This role is open to both staff and contractors. Internal contractors who apply and are successful will remain engaged through their current contracting company.

Basic Purpose of the Role
The position covers both offshore and onshore abandonment operations, with rotation between two platforms, a mobile rig, and office locations.
- Offshore: Perform the Performance Engineer function, support abandonment operations with required wellsite engineering, and assist or deputise for the Drilling Supervisor.
- Onshore: Support the Operations Engineer and Wells Superintendent with end-of-well reporting and identification of key learnings.
Key Responsibilities
Offshore Operations
- Assist and deputise for the Drilling Supervisor in managing rig operations.
- Support preparation of morning reports, cement calculations, and other required documentation.
- Contribute to daily work instructions and action plans for operations and logistics.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of well objectives and the detailed abandonment programme.
- Compile daily lookaheads for personnel, equipment, and logistics in coordination with the Logistics Coordinator.
- Verify incoming rental tools and equipment for accuracy, quantity, and quality.
- Record and maintain equipment dimensions and wellbore data to support accurate performance tracking.
- Maintain electronic and hard copy well files in compliance with the Well Examination Scheme.
- Participate actively in safety programmes, risk assessments, and toolbox talks.
Performance
- Monitor and analyse real-time data during abandonment operations to identify trends and inefficiencies.
- Capture and document lessons learned to inform continuous improvement across operations.
- Conduct pre-job and after-action reviews, ensuring findings are reflected in future programmes and SOPs.
- Develop and implement strategies to reduce non-productive time (NPT) and enhance operational efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with onshore engineers, rig crews, and service providers to meet performance objectives.
- Conduct post-well reviews and benchmarking across rigs and assets.
- Support the deployment and use of digital performance tracking tools.
- Prepare detailed performance reports and present findings in weekly meetings.
Operations Support
- Identify future operational requirements and associated risks; develop contingency plans where needed.
- Support rig teams with technical and planning input to resolve challenges efficiently and safely.
End of Well Reporting
- Compile operational data and performance analysis to create detailed end-of-well reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in the close-out of non-conformance reports.
- Summarise key learnings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
QHSE
- Comply with the company’s Management System, including relevant operational procedures and guidance documents.
- Recommend and implement improvements to operational and safety management systems.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all work scopes.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
Essential Qualifications/Training
- Degree in a relevant technical or engineering discipline.
- Valid Offshore Survival Training Certificate, UK Medical, and MIST certification.
Preferred
- Valid well control certification from a recognised authority (e.g., IWCF, WELLCAP) to Subsea Supervisor level.
- Previous experience in offshore rig roles.
- Completion of a technical training programme relevant to the position.
- Strong relationship-building skills across teams and stakeholders.
Additional Requirements
- Must be willing and able to travel offshore regularly.
