Job Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Maintenance Systems Lead to oversee the effective deployment, governance and optimisation of maintenance management systems across its operational assets.
The role will ensure that maintenance systems, processes and data support safe, compliant and efficient asset management, enabling effective planning, execution and assurance of maintenance activities.
The Maintenance Systems Lead will act as the key interface between maintenance, engineering, operations and information systems teams, ensuring systems remain fit for purpose and aligned with operational, business and regulatory requirements.
The successful candidate will also act as the business lead for Independent Competent Person activities and Management of Change processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the system owner for the Computerised Maintenance Management System, ensuring it effectively supports maintenance planning, execution, backlog management, defect control and performance reporting.
- Own system configuration, governance and change-control processes.
- Ensure maintenance systems comply with internal standards, regulatory requirements and audit expectations.
- Maintain accurate and consistent asset hierarchies, equipment tagging and master data.
- Establish and maintain data standards for work orders, task lists, failure codes and maintenance history.
- Drive improvements in data quality to support performance analysis, regulatory reporting and informed decision-making.
- Ensure maintenance systems align with Safety-Critical Elements and asset integrity registers.
- Develop and maintain maintenance KPIs and dashboards covering backlog, compliance, planned maintenance effectiveness and deferrals.
- Provide analysis and insight into maintenance performance, emerging trends and operational risks.
- Support maintenance, reliability and asset integrity teams through system-based analysis and reporting.
- Support audits, inspections and regulatory reviews relating to maintenance systems, processes and records.
- Ensure system usage supports relevant Safety Case, safety and environmental management, and COMAH requirements.
- Identify system-related risks that could affect asset integrity, safety or regulatory compliance and develop appropriate mitigation actions.
- Lead or support initiatives to improve work management processes, preventive maintenance effectiveness, backlog control and maintenance deferral management.
- Support system upgrades, data migrations and wider digitalisation initiatives.
- Provide guidance and training to system users to improve adoption, consistency and data quality.
- Develop and maintain system procedures, work instructions and user guides.
- Act as a lead investigator using Kelvin TOP-SET investigation techniques.
- Act as the business lead for Independent Competent Person and Management of Change activities.
- Undertake other associated duties as reasonably required.
Skills and Experience
- Significant experience managing or supporting maintenance systems within a hazardous, highly regulated or safety-critical industry.
- Hands-on experience using Computerised Maintenance Management or Enterprise Asset Management systems.
- Strong understanding of maintenance work management processes.
- Experience of maintenance planning, backlog management, defect control and preventive maintenance programmes.
- Strong knowledge of maintenance data structures, asset hierarchies and equipment master data.
- Experience developing maintenance KPIs, dashboards and performance reports.
- Knowledge of ISO 55000 asset management principles.
- Demonstrable experience working with Independent Competent Person and Management of Change processes.
- Experience supporting audits, inspections and regulatory assurance activities.
- Strong stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work across maintenance, engineering, operations and information systems teams.
- Experience leading investigations using Kelvin TOP-SET or a comparable investigation methodology.
Qualifications
- Degree qualified in an engineering, technology or closely related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status is preferred.
- Relevant event-management, incident-investigation or Kelvin TOP-SET training.
