Claims Quantity Surveyor
JAB Recruitment is currently sourcing a Claims Quantity Surveyor for a contractor position based in Kingston upon Thames.
This role will play a key part in supporting project delivery by ensuring that contractual claims are properly prepared, substantiated, and negotiated in order to safeguard the financial and legal interests of the Contractor.
The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of contract law, cost management, and dispute resolution procedures, together with excellent analytical and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse contract documents, project plans, and correspondence to identify potential claims and areas of risk.
- Prepare, assess, and submit claims relating to additional costs, extensions of time, variations, and other contractual entitlements.
- Review Subcontractor claims against the agreed scope of work and determine the correct elements of cost and time associated with any changes in scope, working closely with the Subcontractor team in support of the Project Manager.
- Review Subcontractor claims against the main contract scope, identify the correct elements of cost and time relating to changes in scope, and prepare the onward submission of claims to the Company, incorporating the Contractor’s position.
- Quantify and substantiate claims through the collection and presentation of relevant evidence, including site records, schedules, and cost data.
- Collaborate with project teams, contractors, clients, and legal advisors to resolve claims efficiently and amicably.
- Negotiate settlements and participate in formal dispute resolution processes where required.
- Maintain accurate records of claims and associated documentation for audit and reporting purposes.
- Provide expert advice on contractual matters, risk management, and claims strategy throughout the project lifecycle.
Experience & Skills
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Claims Quantity Surveyor or performing similar claims-related activities within a project environment.
IT Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Contract Details
This position is offered on a contractor basis for an initial 6–9 month period, operating outside IR35 on a full-time basis.
