As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in developing safe, compliant, and efficient electrical designs for bespoke modular solutions and engineered systems. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary teams including project engineers, fabrication teams, and site services to produce detailed electrical design documentation, layouts, calculations and ensure technical excellence from concept through delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed electrical design solutions for modular energy, electrical systems, and engineered products.
  • Produce technical drawings and documents including single-line diagrams, schematics, layouts, cable schedules and design specifications.
  • Perform electrical calculations and component selection that meet regulatory, safety, and client requirements.
  • Collaborate with project teams (mechanical, structural, fabrication, project management) to ensure design integration and constructability.
  • Contribute to project planning and support design reviews, value engineering sessions, and technical meetings.
  • Ensure electrical designs comply with relevant UK and international standards, codes, and best practices including BS 7671/IET Wiring Regulations.
  • Support site activities as required (design queries, technical clarifications, commissioning support).
  • Maintain accurate design records and ensure adherence to company quality and safety systems.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Essential: Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in electrical design engineering (typically 3+ years).
  • Strong technical understanding of electrical systems, layouts, wiring, and protection design.
  • Competence producing detailed design documentation and technical drawings.
  • Sound knowledge of UK electrical standards and statutory regulations.
  • Proficiency with electrical design tools such as AutoCAD, and/or relevant design/calculation software.
  • Desirable: Experience with modular or containerised solutions, hazardous area design, or energy storage/hybrid systems.
  • Knowledge of cable routing, LV/HV systems up to relevant voltages, and power distribution.
  • Familiarity with engineering lifecycle processes, project delivery, and multidisciplinary integration.
