We are currently recruiting for an experienced Petroleum Economist to support a major operator within the UK energy sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for an established Economist with strong knowledge of the UK oil & gas fiscal regime and experience delivering economic evaluations across development, brownfield, decommissioning and strategic investment opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

You will play a key role in supporting investment and business planning activities, including:

  • Delivering economic evaluations for investment opportunities across the UK.
  • Supporting development, brownfield, decommissioning and other strategic projects.
  • Presenting economic analysis to Joint Venture partners.
  • Supporting project Gate Reviews and preparing associated Gate documentation.
  • Providing economic input into project approvals, Strategic Plans and annual Work Programme & Budget processes.
  • Supporting impairment and reserves reviews and Decommissioning Security Agreements.
  • Participating in Peer Reviews and identifying requirements for Economics Peer Assists.
  • Completing economic lookbacks on major expenditure to assess value creation and capital efficiency.
  • Supporting commercial analysis, including tariff and cost-sharing negotiations.
  • Supporting wider planning activities and ad hoc economic analysis as required.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for an experienced Petroleum Economist who can demonstrate:

  • Strong experience completing UK oil & gas economic evaluations.
  • Expert knowledge of the UK oil & gas fiscal regime.
  • Previous experience working as the Economist within multidisciplinary project evaluation teams.
  • Strong economic modelling experience, including the ability to review the work of other Economists.
  • Experience supporting commercial evaluations, including tariff/cost-share negotiations and Decommissioning Security Agreements.
  • Exposure to Geology & Geophysics, Reservoir Engineering, Facilities Engineering and Planning.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to communicate economic analysis to senior leadership.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
