Production Operations Environmental Advisor

Role Summary
The Production Operations Environmental Advisor is an onshore-based role within the HSE&A function, reporting to the Manager, ESG & Environmental Risk. The position supports the delivery of the environmental function across operations and environmental improvement programmes, providing independent, impartial environmental advice and challenge to operations and the wider business. The role is a key focal point for environmental compliance, regulatory engagement, and continuous improvement of environmental performance, working closely with HSE, operational teams, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Health, Safety & Environment
- Carry out all activities in a safe and effective manner, raising safety and environmental issues where identified.
- Act as a role model for compliance with HSE&A policies and procedures.
- Leadership & Behaviour
- Undertake the role in line with company policies and demonstrate appropriate professional behaviours at all times.
- Set best-practice standards for environmental support to operations and environmental improvement initiatives.
- Financial
- Deliver responsibilities in a cost-efficient manner, maximising value and minimising waste and risk.
- Provide input to planning and budgeting processes and proactively raise potential budgetary issues.
- Technical & Functional
- Support operations and the wider organisation to ensure compliance with environmental regulatory requirements and internal management system obligations.
- Maintain and improve elements of the Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Support the preparation and submission of environmental permit and consent applications, returns, and reports.
- Provide independent subject matter advice to:
- Risk assessments and risk management activities
- Incident investigations and event management
- Engineering Management of Change processes
- Environmental improvement projects
- Conduct offshore platform compliance visits and coordinate preparation, delivery, and close-out of regulatory inspections.
- Compile, distribute, and submit relevant environmental data and reports internally and externally.
- Develop and deliver effective environmental communications to ensure issues and requirements are clearly understood and addressed.
- Support and engage with offshore Environmental Representatives (E-Reps).
- Participate in emergency response activities, including exercises, drills, training, and rota cover.
- Provide support and cover for Environmental and HSE Advisors and the Manager, ESG & Environmental Risk as required.
- Collaborate across teams to share knowledge, build networks, and develop practical solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement through feedback, lessons learned, and the use of knowledge databases.
- Actively pursue personal and professional development and coach colleagues where appropriate.
- Engage positively and promptly with people and performance management processes.
- Undertake additional duties and ad hoc projects as required.

Qualifications & Training
- Environmental or STEM-related degree and/or minimum one year industry experience in an environmental role
- Audit qualification
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Experience within the UK Oil & Gas industry, covering operations and/or projects (producing assets, drilling, subsea, seismic, developments, or decommissioning)
- Development and implementation of Environmental Management Systems
- Strong knowledge of UKCS offshore environmental regulatory requirements
- Audit and incident investigation experience
- Excellent communication, organisational, and facilitation skills
