Role Overview
As the Lead Engineer within Consumer Products, you will drive the development of our consumer products across web and mobile platforms. You will work closely with engineering, product, design, and leadership teams to define and deliver secure, scalable, and user-centric solutions that deliver meaningful impact for our users’ well-being and mental health.
Your goal is to lead a high-performing engineering team, own technical architecture, and ensure that our products meet the standards of user experience, quality, compliance, and performance required to support mental health at scale.
Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Implementation : Own and evolve our full-stack architecture to drive world-class user experiences, using React Native , React / Next.js, Node.js , and AWS . Stay hands-on with code and ensure engineering quality through code reviews and best practices

Cross-functional Collaboration : Partner closely with product, design, peer engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable, maintainable software solutions that contribute to shared architecture and services.

Team Leadership & Delivery : Hire, lead, and mentor a high-performing engineering team. Facilitate the product development process to ensure that high-quality features are shipped fast, frequently and on time

Compliance & Security : Implement and maintain secure engineering practices that align with UK health tech regulations (e.g. UK GDPR , ISO 27001 ).

AI Enablement : Support integration of LLM-driven features , working alongside AI engineers to embed intelligence into our user experience.

Scaleup Leadership : Operate with high ownership and adaptability, playing a key role in shaping the future of our product and engineering culture.
What We Are Looking For
Essential Experience and Skills
-
6+ years of experience as a software engineer, with at least 2+ years in a technical leadership role.

A strong track record in delivery of world-class mobile apps using React Native , with a strong focus on user experience.

Backend development experience with Node.js , including RESTful API design and integration, including exposure to AI/LLM technologies or integrating ML-powered features.

Strong experience with AWS infrastructure and services including Lambda, EC2, RDS, S3, Cognito and CloudWatch
-
Deep understanding of secure software development and regulatory compliance in healthcare or other sensitive domains.

Ability to collaborate effectively with product managers , designers , data engineers and non-technical stakeholders .

Proactive, clear communicator who thrives in a lean, agile environment.

Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and deployment for full-stack applications.
