Role Overview
The Bar Supervisor is responsible for supporting the effective day-to-day operation of the bars and lounge areas at JA Mar Hall, with a particular focus on the Gallery Bar and Lounge, ensuring consistently high standards of beverage preparation, service, presentation and guest experience.
Reporting to the Assistant Food & Beverage Managers and Food & Beverage Services Manager, you will provide hands-on supervision of the bar team during allocated shifts, ensuring colleagues are appropriately briefed, organised, supported and delivering service in line with the standards expected of a five-star luxury resort.
This is a highly practical, guest-facing position requiring excellent beverage knowledge, strong cocktail-making skills, attention to detail and the confidence to lead by example.
You will support the continued development of the resort’s beverage offering, contributing ideas for cocktails, seasonal drinks, product presentation and service improvements, whilst working within the direction and commercial objectives set by F&B management.
Although the Gallery Bar and Lounge will be a primary focus, the role requires flexibility to support beverage service across the wider resort, including Meetings & Events, weddings, banqueting and other Food & Beverage areas as required.
Key responsibilities of the Bar Supervisor include:
Bar & Lounge Operations
- Supervise the day-to-day bar and lounge operation during allocated shifts.
- Lead from the front, remaining actively involved in beverage preparation and guest service.
- Ensure the bar is properly prepared, stocked, clean and organised before each service.
- Allocate duties and stations to colleagues in line with operational requirements.

- Maintain high standards of bar and lounge presentation, including glassware, equipment, menus, furniture and service areas.
- Monitor service flow and respond proactively during busy periods.
- Ensure guests are served promptly, professionally and with genuine hospitality.
- Identify operational concerns and communicate them promptly to the Assistant F&B Managers or F&B Services Manager.
- Ensure all areas are left clean, organised and ready for the next service.
Cocktail Preparation & Beverage Standards
- Prepare and serve cocktails, wines, spirits, beers, hot beverages and non-alcoholic drinks to consistently high standards.
- Maintain excellent knowledge of classic cocktails, contemporary drinks and appropriate preparation techniques.
- Ensure all drinks are made to approved recipes, specifications and measures.
- Maintain consistency in flavour, temperature, presentation, garnish and glassware.
- Ensure appropriate preparation and availability of cocktail ingredients, garnishes and other beverage supplies.
- Monitor drink quality throughout service and correct inconsistencies immediately.
- Support the introduction of new drinks and seasonal beverage offerings.
- Contribute ideas for cocktails and drinks that reflect the character and luxury positioning of JA Mar Hall.
- Support tastings, product trials and the development of new beverage specifications.
- Ensure approved drinks are prepared consistently by all trained colleagues.
Guest Experience
- Deliver warm, attentive and personalised hospitality to every guest.
- Be visible and approachable throughout service.
- Build positive relationships with returning guests and recognise individual preferences where possible.
- Provide confident, knowledgeable and appropriate beverage recommendations.
- Support guests in choosing cocktails, wines, spirits and non-alcoholic alternatives.
- Ensure VIPs, special occasions and individual guest requirements are appropriately recognised.
- Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to requests.
- Handle routine guest concerns professionally, taking ownership of resolving issues within your authority.
- Escalate more complex matters to F&B management promptly.
- Work closely with Front Office and Guest Experience colleagues to support a seamless resort experience.
