We are recruiting for an experienced Reliability Engineer to join a large, fast-paced manufacturing operation in Barnsley. This is a key engineering role focused on improving asset reliability, preventative maintenance and equipment performance, while supporting the wider engineering and manufacturing teams to maximise plant availability and efficiency.

The Role

  • Develop and optimise preventative and proactive maintenance programmes
  • Improve the reliability of electrical, mechanical and automated equipment
  • Analyse equipment performance, recurring failures and breakdown trends
  • Lead escalation of complex breakdowns and liaise with OEMs
  • Improve asset care and maintenance strategies
  • Support maintenance planning, machine overhauls and equipment upgrades
  • Develop maintenance procedures and technical documentation
  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and engineering problem solving
  • Support CAPEX projects and equipment obsolescence planning
  • Improve machine availability, reliability, efficiency and engineering KPIs
  • Work closely with Engineering and Production to drive continuous improvement

What We're Looking For

  • Apprentice trained or qualified within Electrical, Mechanical or Automation Engineering
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical maintenance
  • Experience working with automated manufacturing/process equipment
  • Strong understanding of PPM, preventative maintenance and asset care
  • Experience with RCA, fault finding and problem-solving techniques
  • Knowledge of OEM maintenance and asset care recommendations
  • Experience planning machine overhauls, upgrades or engineering improvements
  • Strong analytical and organisational skills
  • Previous experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Food/FMCG manufacturing experience would be advantageous

This role would suit an experienced Reliability Engineer, Asset Reliability Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, Asset Care Engineer, Maintenance Reliability Engineer or Senior Multi-Skilled Engineer looking to move into a reliability-focused position.
