We are recruiting for an experienced Automation Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing site in Barnsley. This is a hands-on role focused on PLC systems, electrical controls, automation and fault finding, supporting site reliability while driving improvements across automated production equipment.
The Role
- Fault find, diagnose and resolve PLC and automation issues
- Support and optimise electrical control systems
- Work with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell PLCs, including Logix platforms
- Maintain and troubleshoot servo drives, VFDs and inverters
- Drive automation and electrical continuous improvement projects
- Maintain electrical drawings, documentation and software backups
- Support engineers with complex electrical and controls faults
- Ensure electrical systems meet required safety and compliance standards
What We're Looking For
- HNC or equivalent in Electrical, Controls or Automation Engineering
- Electrical/Automation Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent experience
- Strong PLC programming and fault-finding skills
- Experience with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell PLCs
- Knowledge of servo drives, VFDs, inverters and industrial networks
- Manufacturing experience, ideally within a fast-paced automated environment
