J.W. Pepper & Son, Inc., the world’s largest retailer of sheet music, is offering a unique opportunity for college students or recent graduates who are/have majored in computer science-related fields and are also currently engaged in music, either as a double major, a minor, or participation in their respective college’s musical programs, i.e., marching band, choir, orchestra, or other musical ensembles.

J.W. Pepper primarily serves the K12 music education market, with additional markets for colleges and universities, churches, and community choirs. J.W. Pepper’s primary conduit for sheet music sales is our e-commerce website, which provides access to over 1.2 million titles of sheet music, with over 150,000 items in-stock on any given day. Working with over 1,000 publishers, the J.W. Pepper website provides several features, services, and tools to help our customers save time in searching, buying and using sheet music.

This opportunity has flexible timing; we are looking for both associates who can start immediately and those who are preparing to graduate.

OBJECTIVE

The goal of the J.W. Pepper Technology Associate program is to provide mutual benefit for both students and the company:

  • Students will experience hands-on experience with all phases of software development from design to implementation.
  • In some cases, this will take place as part of a project currently in development, while in other cases the associate(s) will work on the research, design, and development of more R&D related projects.
  • Technology Associates are also encouraged to present their own ideas that they believe would add value to J.W. Pepper’s current business or to our core customers in K12 music education.

During the interview process, we will attempt to match the Technology Associates' interests with projects relating to sheet music technologies. J.W. Pepper intends to learn from our Technology Associates and expects our associates to add value in the short-term but also potentially be future candidates for full-time employment.

The associates for the music technology program will report to either the Development or Architecture teams at J.W. Pepper. This position can be done on-site at J.W. Pepper headquarters in Exton, PA, or can also be done remotely; however, you must reside in one of the following states: CA, FL, GA, IL, IN, MI, NC, ND, NJ, PA, TX, or UT.

This is a full-time temporary position, with “core” hours of availability being between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. However, hours can be adjusted slightly based on time zone differences. Reasonable accommodations will be made to provide the associate with applicable portfolio examples and case studies of the associate's accomplishments.

The Associate will be paid $28 per hour based on hours worked.

J.W. Pepper & Son provides equal employment opportunity for everyone regardless of age, sex, color, race, creed, sexual orientation, national origin, religious persuasion, marital status, veteran status, or disability that does not prohibit the performance of essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, or other classifications protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.
