Reporting to the HR Manager, we are searching for an HR Officer to provide support to the business on all day-to-day HR activities as well as ad hoc project work in support of the implementation of the wider People Strategy. Based at our Head Office in Newburn, you will support managers across the business to deliver an exceptional experience for all colleagues at each stage of the employee life cycle. Providing administrative and operational support, you will assist with all HR related matters in this varied role giving you the scope to impart your knowledge on any matters that arise. You will also be responsible for payroll processing and administration duties so previous exposure to payroll would be advantageous.

  • Carrying out all HR administration process for starters, movers and leavers
  • Support recruiting managers with the full end to end recruitment process
  • Support with all absence management across the business
  • Provide support to managers on probationary periods
  • Help with all training and development initiatives across the business
  • Provide basic training sessions to line managers on key HR topic areas to include absence, discipline & grievance and performance management.
  • Provide advice, guidance and support to managers on a range of HR policies and procedures ensuring fit with company policy and best practice.
  • Support managers with ER processes such as flexible working requests, discipline and grievance, family friendly leave.
  • Support with engagement events.
  • Provide administrative support for HR related projects and support the HR Manager with implementing the company’s longer term people strategy
  • Maintaining and supporting the development of our HRIS (People First) by ensuring data is up to date, accurate, and GDPR compliant.
  • Assist the HR Manager and senior colleagues with the collaboration of HR metrics/information
  • Provide processing and administration support for the employee payroll, ensuring all payroll information is captured on time and in full.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be CIPD qualified.
  • Have proven HR experience working within a HR Assistant role of similar with up to date knowledge of Employment Law and HR best practice.
  • Be able to adapt and work effectively with Senior Leaders, employees, and external stakeholders
  • Have experience of working with an HR system and have excellent IT skills
  • Have payroll processing knowledge
  • Hold a Full UK driving licence with the ability to travel to our branch network as necessary

The role attracts a competitive salary and benefits package including profit share, life assurance and health cash plan. Normal working hours are 37.5 per week, worked Monday to Friday 08.30am to 5.00pm however we look to attract a talented and diverse workforce and therefore welcome applications to be considered on a full or part time basis.
