J.S. Held is seeking an accomplished and entrepreneurial Senior Managing Director to expand our Construction Advisory practice across the EMEA & APAC region. This is a senior leadership role suited for a market-facing professional with deep expertise in construction claims, dispute resolution, and advisory services, combined with a strong track record of building and scaling high-performing teams.

As a leader for Construction Advisory, you will be responsible for establishing and growing the regional practice, strengthening key client relationships, and positioning J.S. Held as a trusted advisor in the infrastructure and construction market. You will play a critical role in defining go-to-market strategy, developing talent, and delivering complex, high-value engagements across the EMEA and APAC region.

  • Strategic Leadership & Practice Development
    • Lead the growth and strategic direction of the Construction Advisory practice.
    • Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing, multidisciplinary team across key markets.
    • Grow J.S. Held’s brand and reputation through thought leadership and market engagement.
    • Drive operational excellence, ensuring consistent delivery of high-quality, client-ready outputs.
  • Client Leadership & Project Delivery
    • Lead complex construction claims, dispute resolution, and advisory assignments across infrastructure, energy, and real estate sectors.
    • Provide expert guidance in areas including:
      • Quantum and damages evaluation
      • Delay and disruption analysis
      • Loss of productivity and efficiency assessments
      • Contract interpretation and risk analysis
      • Change order and commercial claims
    • Act as a senior trusted advisor to clients, including developers, contractors, investors, and legal counsel.
    • Present findings to executive stakeholders, arbitration panels, and dispute forums where required.
  • Business Development & Market Expansion
    • Develop and execute a growth strategy to expand the firm’s footprint across the region.
    • Build and maintain a strong network across construction, legal, and insurance sectors.
    • Generate new business opportunities through client relationships, referrals, and industry engagement.
    • Represent J.S. Held at industry events, conferences, and thought leadership forums.
    • Collaborate with global leadership on cross-border opportunities and integrated service offerings.
  • Qualifications
    • Required Qualifications
      • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
      • Significant experience in the construction industry, with significant focus on claims, disputes, and advisory services.
      • Proven leadership experience with a strong track record of building and managing successful teams.
      • Demonstrated success in business development and managing senior client relationships.
      • Deep understanding of the construction and infrastructure market.
      • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including executive-level engagement.
      • Proficiency in relevant tools such as:
        • Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project
        • Microsoft Office Suite
        • Bluebeam / Adobe tools
        • Data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI preferred)
    • Preferred Qualifications
      • Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CCP, PSP, MRICS, PE).
      • Experience serving as an expert witness or supporting arbitration and litigation proceedings.
      • Established network within the construction, legal, and insurance sectors.
      • Experience working on large-scale infrastructure or international projects.
