J.S. Held is seeking a Senior Consultant / Assistant Managing Director for our Builder's Risk Practice with a strong focus on delivering exceptional service and superior work product to clientele. You will be responsible for overseeing scheduling, inspection, support, and delivery of multiple projects across various disciplines within the insurance claim industry.

Responsibilities
  • Bring a minimum of 7 years’ experience in construction or construction insurance consulting, with a strong foundation in schedule and claims analysis.
  • Conduct detailed schedule analysis using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, applying Critical Path Methodology (CPM) to assess project timelines.
  • Evaluate construction delay claims and insurance-related events, identifying causes, impacts, and mitigation opportunities.
  • Review and analyse claim costs associated with insured construction events, ensuring accuracy and defensibility.
  • Examine construction contracts to identify terms and conditions relevant to claims and dispute resolution.
  • Prepare clear and comprehensive narrative reports and schedule assessments, highlighting potential timeline impacts and supporting claim positions.
  • Collaborate with legal teams, project stakeholders, and expert witnesses to support litigation, arbitration, and insurance recovery efforts.
Qualifications
  • Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline from a recognised institution.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in construction or construction insurance consulting, with a strong focus on scheduling and claims.
  • Proven project management skills, including the ability to organise, evaluate, and manage complex project documentation.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Solid understanding of schedule planning, project controls, and construction management principles.
  • Excellent written communication and analytical skills, with the ability to produce clear, detailed, and professional reports.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and availability to meet with clients as needed.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for site inspections and client meetings.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience conducting schedule delay analysis and preparing forensic assessments.
  • Familiarity with construction insurance claims processes, including Builder’s Risk, Delay in Start-Up (DSU), and Business Interruption (BI).
