Transmission Dynamics is a multi-award-winning, privately-owned engineering and innovation company that leads in delivering cutting-edge IoT solutions for complex industrial challenges. We excel in creating wireless telemetry, data acquisition systems, and sensors, with a focus on machine learning, AI, low power consumption, and high performance across diverse sectors including defence, rail, wind power, automotive, energy, mining, marine, and subsea.
The ideal candidate will be talented, passionate and hard-working, with great intuition for real-world problem solving. You should possess:
- A 2:1 or first-class degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Noise & Vibrations, Machine Dynamics, Acoustics, Instrumentation or similar.
- A good technical understanding of sensors and data acquisition, with a genuine interest in investigation and problem solving. Some background in understanding of machine dynamics (centrifugal loads, noise, vibrations, resonance, stress and fatigue) would be beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail.
- An intuitive ability to anticipate risks and potential issues.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills to create a positive impression on clients (both initially and long lasting), as well as to lead a small team (2-4) of instrumentation technicians.
Ideal candidate would have approximately 1+ years of professional engineering experience, although candidates who do not have professional experience, but have a genuine interest in their spare-time would always be welcome to apply.
The work will involve installation of precision monitoring instrumentation on high-value assets globally. It is estimated that approximately 20-30% of the engineer’s time would be spent performing onsite installation (likely increasing over time), with the remaining time used for the development, assembly, and testing of bespoke instrumentation systems. Daily tasks would involve precision-soldering of miniature components calibration, configuration of data acquisition systems and data acquisition. The engineer would be working as a bridge between mechanical engineering, electronics engineering and data analytics teams. The candidate should ideally demonstrate experience with soldering small-scale assemblies and a good understanding of instrumentation and sensor fundamentals.
Please note we do not recruit from agencies. Previous applicants need not re-apply.
