Job responsibilities:
- Design and develop comprehensive product documentation, including conceptual overviews, step-by-step guides, API reference materials, and interactive tutorials for developer audiences.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Managers and Engineering teams to extract technical knowledge and build deep expertise in our financial services product ecosystem.
- Translate complex technical information into simple, accurate, engaging content that adapts to various audiences.
- Manage, or show proficiency to learn, API design principles and a docs-as-code workflow to publish documentation on our customer-facing portals.
- Define and evolve documentation standards, style guides, and quality control processes that ensure consistency across our external-facing technical content.
- Evaluate, implement, and optimise documentation toolchains that streamline content creation, testing, and publishing workflows.
- Champion user-centered documentation by systematically gathering, analysing, and implementing customer feedback to continuously improve content effectiveness.
- Develop content in alternative media forms for maximum usability, with consistent tone of voice across all documentation.
- Drive innovation in technical content strategy by researching and implementing emerging documentation approaches, formats, and delivery methods.
Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:
- B2B Technical Writer with experience creating technical documentation for developer-focused products, with emphasis on API documentation.
- Proficiency with modern documentation technologies and tools including Markdown, OpenAPI/Swagger, static site generators, docs-as-code content authoring, and git-based version control.
- Ability to quickly understand complex technical concepts and translate them into clear, precise documentation with attention to accuracy, consistency, and readability.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and product teams to gather technical information, define content structures and create visuals.
- Strong customer advocacy mindset with the ability to anticipate developer needs, identify content gaps, and champion documentation improvements that directly address user pain points.
- Self-directed work ethic with demonstrated ability to take initiative, ask insightful questions, and drive projects forward even when requirements or technical details are initially unclear.
- Adaptability and resilience in fast-moving environments, with the ability to manage multiple documentation priorities while maintaining high-quality standards.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills:
- Ideally you are proficient, or prepared to learn about, API structure and design principles.
- Previous experience documenting APIs, products or services in the Financial Services or Fintech sector.
- Experience in both startup environments and established organisations.
