Play a key role in ensuring both system reliability and application ownership at one of the world's most iconic and largest financial institutions. As an Associate in Application Owner Support & Site Reliability Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within ASF Technology, you will have a blended role, equally focused on application ownership and site reliability engineering. You will leverage technology and software engineering best practices to solve business problems, ensure system reliability, and maintain application health. You will ensure applications comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and audit standards.
Responsibilities
- Execute small to medium projects independently, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver larger initiatives.
- Analyze, triage, and resolve incidents, including violations from defined policies, working with stakeholders to ensure timely root cause analysis and resolution.
- Assist the AO in managing the lifecycle of applications, including onboarding, upgrades, and decommissioning.
- Plan and manage audits and other business-critical events, ensuring all requirements and deadlines are met.
- Maintain and update application documentation, runbooks, and support guides.
- Maintain and monitor application health, ensuring systems are running with accurate and up-to-date data.
- Track and report on application health, usage, and performance metrics.
- Implement and improve service level indicators, objectives monitoring, and alerting solutions for optimal transparency and analysis.
- Proactively identify and eliminate manual toil through systems engineering or application code updates.
- Support change management, release coordination, and deployment activities.
- Participate in on-call rotation and coverage planning, including support for holidays and special events.
- Support the AO in risk assessments, control testing, and remediation activities.
- Ensure timely completion of required attestations, certifications, and compliance documentation.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and 2+ years of applied experience.
- Ability to code in at least one programming language (Java, Python, .Net, etc.).
- Familiarity with site reliability concepts, principles, and practices.
- Experience with at least one database and SQL queries.
- Knowledge of observability, monitoring, and alerting tools (e.g., Grafana, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Datadog, Splunk).
- Experience with containers or common server OS (Linux, Windows).
- Understanding of CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, Terraform).
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Experience in incident management, root cause analysis, and process improvement.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- General knowledge of the financial services industry.
- Experience maintaining cloud-based infrastructure.
- Experience in audit planning, regulatory event management, or application ownership.
