We are seeking a Middle Office Client Onboarding Lead to join JP Morgan in Edinburgh on an initial 12 months contract to cover a maternity leave. Ideally you will have previous third-party client onboarding experience within middle office. We will consider also candidates with experience of custody services, reconciliations, trade support etc. Training of some systems like SWIFT messaging, Monday.com etc will be provided where required.
Role Summary
We're looking for a senior, client-facing leader to oversee third‑party onboarding across EMEA onto JP Morgan's strategic Investment Middle Office (IMOS) platform. You will be the daily point of reference for clients and third parties, translating current‑state models into a target‑state on the IMOS strategic platform, providing crisp updates in daily forums, and serving as an SME across connectivity, messaging, and middle‑office processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Client leadership and point‑of‑contact: Own day‑to‑day onboarding for custodians, transfer agents, fund accountants, brokers, counterparties, and collateral managers; clarify scope, sequencing, timelines, and acceptance criteria to reach the IMOS target state.
- End‑to‑end execution: Drive intake, due diligence, connectivity setup, messaging certification, testing, go‑live readiness, cutover, and stabilization on the IMOS strategic infrastructure with clear backout plans and evidence capture.
- Cross‑functional orchestration: Partner with Product, Operations, Reference Data, Testing, and Technology to define scope, the future third‑party model, and executable onboarding plans; ensure downstream readiness across trade lifecycle, cash, and corporate actions.
- Connectivity, messaging, and testing: Lead design and certification of SWIFT and SFTP connectivity, solve non‑market standards and bespoke formats, and manage UAT planning, execution, and defect triage with clear entry/exit criteria.
- Governance, reporting, and controls: Maintain dashboards and metrics to demonstrate progress and quality; report risks, issues, and decisions in daily programme updates; continually enhance processes and controls throughout migration.
- On/offshore leadership: Lead and coach an India‑based pod with SLAs and quality standards; foster a diverse, high‑performing, learning‑focused culture across locations.
Required Skills
- Domain/technical: Strong grasp of the trade lifecycle, cash management, and corporate actions across products; demonstrable experience working within custody (processes, controls, and service models); subject‑matter expertise in third‑party SWIFT messaging and connectivity problem‑solving; familiarity with common data formats used in custody and fund operations.
- Delivery/stakeholders: Demonstrated success engaging clients and third parties and partnering across functions through planning, onboarding, and migration; excellent communication and relationship‑building; self‑starter operating across time zones.
- Tools/analytics: Advanced Excel and PowerPoint for MI and executive‑ready reporting; Alteryx/Tableau experience is a strong plus for onboarding dashboards and metrics.
Impact and Success Measures
- Right‑first‑time connectivity/messaging certification; reduced go‑live issues and stable post‑migration operations with robust evidence and controls.
- Clear, data‑driven reporting that surfaces risks and decisions promptly and shows progress against plans and SLAs; positive client/third‑party feedback on collaboration and issue resolution.
Please note this role is an Edinburgh‑based role with regular client/third‑party interaction; daily engagement with global stakeholders and India offshore team; flexibility for time‑zone overlaps may be required.
