As a Python Quant Dev Associate at JPMorgan Chase within the Systematic Equities Trading Technology, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Drive significant business impact through your capabilities and contributions, and apply deep technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to tackle a diverse array of challenges that span multiple technologies and applications.
Responsibilities
- Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors.
- Partner closely with research and trading teams to build and support integrated alpha research and backtesting platform.
- Design and build robust tools and frameworks to support quantitative research and production trading.
- Design, build and support critical research infrastructure (e.g. backtesting frameworks, strategy containers, high performant and scalable simulation environments, feature and strategy signal stores).
- Develop interfaces and integration points between Python research environments and Java-based execution systems.
- Build and support research and trading analytics libraries (e.g. markouts, strategy analytics).
- Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus.
- Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies.
- Adds to the team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
- Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Advanced in one or more programming language(s) - Strong expertise in Python. Comfortable with scientific and dataset libraries such as pandas, numpy.
- Design and implementation of front-office systems for quant trading.
- Knowledge of data pipelines, market data processing and backtesting workflows.
- Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines.
- Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight.
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems.
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods. Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.
- Academic experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
- Knowledge of machine learning, statistical techniques and related libraries.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Additional advanced knowledge of Java / C++ is a strong plus.
- Practical cloud experience is a plus.
- Knowledge and experience in FIX, Market Data, Analytics, OMS, and equities trading in global markets are assets.
- Experience with KDB/Q, shell scripting are assets.
