We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to take your software engineering career to the next level. As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial and Investment Banking “Markets Portfolio Management group”, you serve as an experienced member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market‑leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives.

The Markets Portfolio Management (MPM) group has been created to actively manage the risks, costs and size constraints of JPMC retained markets portfolio in an active and connected manner. It supports the strategic agenda of our Markets franchise through a coordinated approach to pricing and management of financial resources.

Job responsibilities

  • As a Senior member of the team be willing to be business facing and handle time critical demands of Front‑office/trading users.
  • Mentor and supervise junior resources in different regions.
  • Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
  • Creates secure and high‑quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems.
  • Produces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code development.
  • Gathers, analyses, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
  • Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture.
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies.
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
  • Engage with new and emerging Platform as a Service technologies to deliver first class tooling to MPM business users.
  • Provide L3 support to end users during critical periods of regulatory reporting across different regimes.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Hands‑on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability with a minimum of 5+ years of applied experience.
  • Proficient in coding in one or more languages (preferably Python and Java is a plus).
  • Experience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
  • Hands on experience in SQL and databases and data warehouses.
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle along with advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.).
  • Interest in developing industry trends, especially around data management platforms.
  • Prior experience in leveraging AWS and data warehouses is a plus.
  • Previous experience supporting at least one Capital Markets Line of Business.
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Strong Python experience, especially in the context of large trade or risk management platforms.
  • Previous experience using AWS/S3 or other services.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake/ Data-bricks or other PAAS offerings.
  • Strong understanding of a Treasury Function and concepts like Balancesheet, Liquidity and Regulatory Capital is a plus.
