We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for you to take your software engineering career to the next level. As a Software Engineer II at JPMorgan Chase within Risk Technology, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
- Design, develop, and maintain responsive user interfaces/micro frontends using React and modern JavaScript.
- Integrate REST APIs from Java and Python microservices; contribute to UI‑side architecture and shared libraries (module federation, design tokens, shared components).
- Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications; ensure design constraints are met in software implementation.
- Own front‑end performance, secure coding hygiene, telemetry, and error handling; instrument UIs for FRAME Observability dashboards.
- Gather, analyse, and synthesise insights from usage and operational data to drive continuous improvement of user interfaces and system integrations.
- Improve developer experience via CI/CD and testing: Bitbucket/Jules pipelines, automated unit/integration tests (Jest, React Testing Library), and static analysis (SSAP, Sonar).
- Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and agile ceremonies; collaborate closely with back‑end engineers and SRE to harden releases.
- Proactively identify hidden problems and patterns in data/code to drive refactoring and architectural improvements.
- Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies.

- Contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle, from concept to deployment.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Formal training or certification in Software Engineering concepts and applied experience.
- Advanced proficiency in JavaScript and React (Vue or Angular experience also considered).
- Strong skills in HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design.
- Production experience with TypeScript.
- Familiarity with Python.
- Experience integrating with RESTful APIs, and handling asynchronous data.
- Strong design sensibility and attention to visual detail.
- Knowledge of testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress, or similar).
- Proficiency with Git version control.
- Commitment to writing well-structured, clean code.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Experience with design systems or component libraries (e.g., Material Design).
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and cloud environments (AWS).
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG, ARIA).
- Understanding of design patterns, modular architecture, and dependency injection.
- Experience working with Figma designs.
- Familiarity with AI-powered development tools (e.g., Microsoft Co-Pilot, Cursor, Claude Code).
